Teeth Whitening

One of the first things you notice when you meet someone is their smile.
A whiter, brighter smile is beautiful - it can help you feel better about yourself.
Your teeth can also be discolored on the surface by medication, cigarettes, coffee, tea, red wine or certain food colouring.

Chair side tooth-bleaching with Zoom!
The Zoom! Chairside Whitening System makes whitening easier and faster than ever before.

First the dentist will put a rubber dam over your teeth to protect the gums or a gel to protect the soft tissue. They will then apply the whitening product to your teeth, using a specially made tray which fits into your mouth like a gum-shield.

Then a light is shone onto the teeth to activate the chemical. The treatment can be done in two hours.

The amount of discomfort experienced after treatment varies from person to person. Your teeth and your gum will likely become sensitive. (All products contain peroxide based gels but they are not harmful.) This should settle down after approximately 48 hours. Our dentist recommends the routine use of desensitizing gel following bleaching.

How much whiter will my teeth look?
It is impossible to predict how much whiter your teeth will become but anywhere from 2-3 shades lighter. The results of teeth whitening vary but most people are happy with the results.

How long does whitening last?
The effects of whitening can last up to two-three years. The duration of the whiteness will also depend on your personal habits. However, to keep the it looking it best, tooth whitening must be done as often as every 6 months.
The effect is less likely to last as long if you smoke, or eat or drink products that can stain your teeth. Ask your dentist for their opinion before you start treatment.
